I was recently invited to a hen do in Newcastle. One of my oldest friends is getting married in the next few weeks and she wanted to go up to Newcastle. Having never been to the northern England city I was definately up for it. I was not disappointed.
9.25 -London Heathrow boarding a flight to Newcastle using British Airways. At the time of booking transport it was the cheapest believe it or not. Being a Hen do it was only right to have a cocktail.
The weather was not that great in Newcastle but the flight was quick an easy. There were 15 of us but taxis were easy to find as soon as we got to the airport.
We stayed at the Hampton by Hilton which is situated directly opposite to Newcastle train station. It is a beautiful hotel on the inside but you never think it, from the way it looks from the outside.
Had a bit of a freshening up and then headed out for a couple of drinks. (The theme for the entire weekend, after all it was a hen weekend.) I have never done a crystal maze before the pressure was on. After being split into two teams we went on the adventure. It was fun and gave us laughs the only down thing is that you can hear the other teams doing the activities. Our host for the team was funny, you know when you can tell when people enjoy their jobs, yeah she was one of them.
I live for the naps so after that was done had a quick nap and then it was prep for the rest of the night. First stop Botanist. I am not sure if any of the photos do it justice but the food and drinks were amazing. Being a vegetarian sometimes it is hard to find something suitable on the menu, but could probably asked. I had the butter nut squash pie with chips and mushy peas. Not a mushy peas girl but on this occasion I did. (Not sure if i had an option though.) Sitting in the restaurant and bar areas it was beautiful. The interior is stunning with the greenery on the bar to the glass roof ceiling.
Final stop of the night was the a club where included in our package was a few bottles of prosecco and a few other bottled spirits. All in all the first day/ evening was great. It seemed Newcastle has quite a bit to offer ............
I am a short and sweet type of girl this is the first of the Newcastle blog with part 2 coming out in the next few days. Stay peeled.
